A RICH HERITAGE

One of the first company directors - Caroline Dewhurst - was born on November 4, 1904.

Aunt Mollie, as she was affectionately known by all who knew her, served the company with unstinting loyalty for half a century, much of that time as a company secretary.

Edward Dewhurst, the current chairman, was born on October 22, 1937.

Edward began his career as an apprentice electrician aged 17 and subsequently led Edward Dewhurst Limited through half a century of manufacture and development. He was proud to be at the helm when Edward Dewhurst Ltd celebrated a century in business in 1987. Photo: As shown in timeline attached

Edward Dewhurst’s electrical shop at 47 Fishergate was a well known landmark in the centre of Preston.

Edward Dewhurst Limited moves to Preston docklands development from their previous home of 113 years on Mount Street, in the centre of the city.

Edward Dewhurst celebrate their 125th anniversay.

Preston , now a city, stages the Preston Guild and Mr Edward Dewhurst, and hios sons John and Paul, walk in the business procession.

The Preston Guild dates back to 1179 when King Henry 11 granted the town its first royal charter. It takes place every 20 years and is the only one celebrated in Britain.
